I supported a team at Fenton Communications in their work as a primary media firm with Color of Change, the nation’s largest online racial justice organization.

I assisted in developing media strategy and messaging for several of the organization’s leading campaigns, and am the lead writer on many of the op-eds for campaign leaders and for organization President Rashad Robinson.

Challenging Facebook

I helped quarterback Color of Change’s crisis response to the NY Times’ November 2018 revelations that Facebook had hired a shady right-wing opposition firm to spread lies about the organization. That work has continued forward as I supported Rashad Robinson in developing his Fast Company op-ed calling for Mark Zuckerberg’s resignation in advance of the Facebook 2019 shareholder meeting.

Thought Leadership

Color of Change has a unique voice in some of the most pressing and challenging issues of our time, such as criminal justice reform and immigration. Supporting the organization in thought leadership pieces means both learning to emulate and honor that voice while pushing the arguments into new and compelling territory. I’ve been honored to help Color of Change President Rashad Robinson in that way, and the pieces we’ve worked on together have helped build define the narratives of these campaigns.

On the racist past — and present — of the Senate filibuster. This piece created a marked shift in the debate around the topic and was oft quoted by other writers. - USA Today

More on the filibuster and the failings of the Democratic Party from campaign director Scott Roberts - The Hill

On the link between anti-immigrant and anti-Black policy in America (with Jose Antonio Vargas) - The Guardian
